From yoga/runner to Sparten!

I decided to challenge myself and take myself out of my comfort zone and try a Sparten race. It turns out that the race closest to my house is a Sparten Super. It will be 8-10 miles plus 25 obstacles. The training has left me sore, starving and very cranky! I have learned to climb a rope, scale an 8 foot wall, practiced monkey bars, swung from rings, and played on the kids playground. I have been running for about 6 years. And when I say running, I mean, 7 Half Marathons, 1 full marathon, 4-5 10K races, and too many 5K's over the years to remember. After having my first daughter I took up yoga. I have been practicing up to 4 days a week for over 2 years now. I love the intensity of Hot Vinyasa. It starts with a mediation and slow movement. As you slowly warm up your body, the heat in the room creeps up to 100 degrees. The combination of the heat and movement leave your body, more flexible, calm and feeling amazing. I truly believe it is therapy and a workout in one! My Sparten

Hiking Provo Canyon in Spring

First off research where you are going before you hike! We tried to visitBridal Veil falls this past weekend but it is closed due to Avalanche risks. Luckily Nunn falls nearby is open and there is a river, nice paved trail, and small playground perfect for the 2-6 age range! We let the kids play and then took a short stroller friendly walk. The only difficulty was an abundance of people on skateboards so keep your little ones close by! On Sunday we went to Grotto Falls. This was a short muddy hike!! Only .5 miles 1 way but not a great Spring hike if you aren't looking to get wet or muddy! I wore white/light grey capris which got muddy! Thankfully we had hiking boots on so feet stayed dry. We saw some hiking barefoot, and many people not prepared for the terrain. I kept our 2 year old in the Ergo baby carrier the whole time. I would recommend trying Grotto falls later in the summer!

Flying alone with 2 kids

Anyone else make the daring decision to fly alone with a 4 and 21 month old? I have flown numerous  times with my older daughter and 2-3 times with both girls. Today will be the first time I drive to the airport and do the entire trip alone. I have 2 small spinner suitcases packed. I will use a backpack to hold snacks/toys. I am bringing a DVD player and a Kids Fire tablet. Lots of snacks!! Popcorn, crackers, cheese sticks, and sippy cups. I weighed my 4 year old and finally weighs 40 pounds!! Hurray! So no more lugging the heavy Car seat. I will have my Dad pick us up a booster seat to keep at his house.      We live across the country from all our family. Traveling is a way of life if we want to see family. Our girls are TSA experts. I always bring the stroller as walking gate to gate for a 4 year old sometimes works and sometimes they are too tired or cranky. I have never flown with my big double Bob stroller. I just use my single Britax and squeeze both kids in. I always wear

Why only 2 kids?

I had a novel thought this morning! What if 2 kids is enough! Living in Salt Lake City, Utah I get asked all the time, Why only 2 kids? What if 2 kids is all I want! I take care of myself, I workout, eat right. I have 2 beautiful little girls. I have a wonderful husband that supports us. I keep thinking I might want another baby, but this morning as my 20 month old woke up whining and clingy, I thought, what is this is enough for me? I want to be the best mom I can be to these two girls. I want to give them all the love and attention they need. I also am focused on my husband and I having more time alone. Date nights regularly and soon a vacation away alone! I wonder if having another baby would be right for our relationship and our family. Thinking back to when I had my second daughter, I had a very hard time emotionally. After having three years with just one child, I was very unsure how I was going to be able to love both these little girls! I literally felt like my heart was spli
